Fierce Resistance at Northwest Detention Center

The Northwest Detention Center is a sad complex, both in appearance and in purpose, tucked away next to the Port of Tacoma on top of a toxic EPA superfund site. Built in 2004, the concrete hell has a capacity 1,575 and is one of the largest immigrant detention facilities in the country. To somehow, almost inconceivably, make matters worse this place is owned and operated by Geo Group which is the second largest private prison corporation in the country.

UW: All Out Against Fascism and Hate!

The Greater Seattle General Defense Committee calls upon the UW campus and community beyond to join us at Red Square on Friday, March 31st at 12PM in declaring that we will not be intimidated by the violence of the far-right! This includes the near-fatal shooting of one of our members at University of Washington on January 20th as well as the others who are currently facing attacks and harassment.

Update 1/23/2017:  Corrections: The SPD has been replaced with the UWPD, and the incorrect statement that firearms are forbidden by law has been replaced with reference to the campus policy banning firearms. Strikeouts are used to preserve transparency. We apologize for the errors and thank the public for their interest.
